Sooner than I can believe, I am leaving for a "once in a lifetime" tour across the United States on my bike. Innocently enough over a year ago on a ride to Hetch Hetchy, Lori Cherry mentioned wanting to ride transcontinental this year. That sounded awesome and during a 100 mile ride it morphed into a trip with my kids driving the SAG car! Now, 2 weeks from the start date, and in it's final form, the trip is actually a PAC Tour from Portland, OR to Tybee Island, GA. Though the kids thought it would be fun to SAG (at least Carson did), it would probably be like watching paint dry for them. The logistics were overwhelming, and PAC Tour does it all for us!
Jeanine Spence, Lori and I are flying to Portland on July 4th and will start riding on July 5th. 30 days of riding, averaging 115 miles a day and 4,000 feet of climbing. Am I getting nervous - uh, yeah! Not as much for the riding as all the details leading up to it - deep breaths! It's gonna be awesome and I can't believe I'm lucky enough to do this! So for tales of our adventure, stay tuned, there will be many!!
